Dr Bhavesh Dhamsania

Dr Bhavesh Dhamsania

I was born and brought up in India and moved to Australia in 2007.  I worked in Emergency and Anaesthesia before I moved to Australia.  Being sick of unpredictable weather and struggles in Melbourne, I moved to Rockhampton in 2009.  I have been working in the Rockhampton Emergency department since then.  I decided to become a GP because I like looking after patients over a long term, providing continuity BUT I also like the thrill of Emergency Department.

I have completed various studies – diploma in child health, fellowship in rural and remote medicine, diploma in dermatology, certificate in advanced skin surgery and various emergency courses.

I am a father to 2 children – my son born in 2008 and my daughter born in 2015.  My wife is busy looking after our family, our 2 children and sometimes me as the biggest kid of them all. I have been happily married for more than 10 years.

My interests include emergency medicine and chronic disease management like asthma, diabetes, general skin conditions and skin cancer.  I like to manage complex problems.  I don’t mind seeing acute emergencies here locally.  I believe in disease prevention especially in certain population groups including Indigenous Peoples.

My aim is to provide the best medical service to the Gracemere Population.

Dr Sarah Leilua

I studied medicine in Auckland, NZ. My husband had to come across the ditch to do extra training in his field of medicine so the family decided to make it a 2 year adventure and do something a little out of our comfort zone. For me the initial challenge was to be a fulltime stay at home Mum for a year looking after our three sons. I have taken on some fitness challenges, completing the Rocky River Run half marathon last year, and recently the Elite Fitness League competition. So with that under my belt, I decided to jump back into the workforce. I am really thrilled to be here with the friendly and supportive staff and the wonderful community that I meet at Gracemere Medical Centre, and I am ready to support you through your own health challenges.

Dr Alwand Sherif

Dr Alwand Sherif

Originally from Iraq of Kurdish background, I consider myself lucky and proud to be in Australia, it was always my dream to work as a GP, initially trained as GP in Iraq.

I lived in Sydney and worked in tertiary hospitals like St George and The Sutherland.  It was my passion to work in rural and regional Australia, so I moved to Griffith NSW.   I worked in its base hospital as a junior and senior doctor in different departments but mainly Emergency and Internal Medicine ones.  It was in Griffith where I started practice as GP again.

Early this year (2017), we relocated to the beautiful Central Queensland, different from anywhere we had lived in.

I am interested in all aspects of general practice, I bring experience in emergency, paediatric and adult internal medicine and enjoy seeing patients of different fields and different ages.

I live with my wife and two sons (9 and 3), and am keen to dedicate enough time to spend with them.  I enjoy cooking with my wife, my favourite hobby is reading mainly social history and astronomy.

We have started loving this area and it is our intention to stay here and provide services to the local communities.
