Fee Structure
Note: Current as of July 2025
Gracemere Medical Centre is a private billing practice and we ask you to pay in full at the time of consultation.
The Medicare rebate, bulk billing, only covers a small portion of the costs of providing high-quality healthcare. Community General Practice is not subsidised by State or Federal Governments, unlike the hospital system. We are a locally owned small business, like many other General practices.
Payment of fees is expected on the day of the consultation. For specialized services a consultation fee is usually required as well as the service.
For services not covered in this website, please ask about the fee.
If you are worried about paying, please speak with our practice manager before your appointment. Our receptionists are unable to make cost decisions on behalf of the doctors.
We also encourage you to voice your concerns to your Federal Member of Parliament, as the Federal Government dictates the level of your Medicare rebates.
What is the Out of Pocket Fee?
The out of pocket fee is the amount of money that you will have to pay (and will not get rebated back) on top of any consult fee that may occur with the procedure or service (this may or may not be rebated depending on the service).
Non-Attendance
Non-Attendance may incur a fee.
We ask everyone to let us know if you are unable to attend your appointment to allow others to be seen.
All doctors continue to bulk bill:
- Health Assessments and Chronic Disease Care Plans
- DVA Gold Card holders
Selected doctors are continuing to bulk bill:
- First Nations Peoples for standard Medicare visits.
Making a payment:
You can pay your account any way you like (cash, credit card or debit card), however you can only collect your Medicare rebate using our TYRO machine by using a debit card (savings or cheque account – Medicare will not pay onto credit cards). Surcharge fees from the EFT POS company are applied at the time of the transaction by the EFT POS company – Tyro.
